How to tell whether your calorie target is wrong or your execution is inconsistent

A stalled result does not automatically mean the target is wrong. Separate plan quality from execution quality first, then decide whether to hold, simplify, or review the calorie target.

Imagine two people both have a 2,200-calorie target and both see little movement in their weight trend. One averages about 2,200 kcal on well-logged days with strong coverage across the review window. The other has several unlogged dinners, a few partially logged weekends, and a logged average of 2,200 kcal only because some intake is missing. The scale result looks similar, but the evidence does not support the same diagnosis.
In the first case, the target may deserve review if the trend remains inconsistent with the goal after enough reliable evidence accumulates. In the second, lowering the target would be premature because the actual intake pattern is still uncertain. A smaller number on the plan does not fix incomplete evidence about execution.
Define plan quality and execution quality separately
